Never Cry Wolf - Help Comanche get medical help NOW

Today, I was touched by a wolf.

As you know, I am a "wolf girl". I was blessed with meeting Danielle, and her Ambassador wolves today. These majestic creatures will steal your heart. Danielle is part of a rescue organization called "Never Cry Wolf Rescue". She tours with her wolves to educate and raise awareness.

Today, I was part of an event that helped raise funds for this fabulous group. Please take a moment to read their website, and why they are an integral part of saving this amazing creature.

My children and their friends walked around for 8 hours "selling" stamps for .50 cents because they wanted to help the wolves. They thought of this themselves and raised over $80.

The rescue has ongoing needs, but today I am blogging to ask for your help to raise the $1000 needed to get Comanche, one of the grey wolves in my pictures, immediate medical help. Once I met these wolves, and I had a deep connection with them. ANY amount you can give helps. You can PayPal to ncwolfrescue@yahoo.com, please put "Goddess Wolf" in the reference, or go directly to their donations page.

My friend and I are planning a fundraising event for the rescue. There will be a raffle with beautiful artifacts, including a "Wolf Goddess" that I am making especially for Comanche. If you would like to receive notice, please join my Yahoo Group at Goddessinthegroove-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

When you see these pictures, you will understand why I was so deeply touched by these gentle and wise wolves. Please pass this on to your friends so that we can raise the money needed to help Comanche now, and support this wonderful group.

Snack break. Heike & Dante

Dante & Comanche. Comanche was not feeling well, but "insisted" he come along. I think it was because he knew he would bond with a new set of humans today (old & young) that will help him and his pack.

Justina & Dante, in between "photo sessions". We were taking photos for $5 a piece to raise money.

Getting lost in the corn

Today we decided to take a family trip to the corn maze listed in the Guiness Book as the "world's largest". How cool is that?

15 minutes in, I was wondering what the hell I was thinking, dragging my family into a creepy maze of corn. Once I got my bearing and actually reached the first "checkpoint", I was ok again. It was fun, and we triumphantly exited the maze after 52 minutes!!

101 posts!!

This is my 101st post!

Damn, missed that the last one was 100!
I feel like I should be giving this special notice.

:)

Reflection/lesson of the day:
Look deep inside yourself and find what you love.
Ditch the rest of the crap.

P.S. That goes for people too! If they don't make you happy, ditch 'em.

What do you do at 4:42 am??

It is 4:42 am and I am finishing up my last Goddess for a festival I am a vendor at in 5 hours :). I found out today from my mom that "last minute stress function" is a gene I am born with, so I have to live with it.

The coffee bar will love me.

Guess what I am watching on T.V. while I am beading away?

SOUL TRAIN!!!!

(I think you have to be born before 1990 to know why that is so cool?)

Almost done!!!

Tattooing a Goddess earlier in the evening.

I just had to share Autumn Bliss and Autumn Blaze. Don't they look chummy? I think they need to live together.....

How to grow good Karma

If you have anything in your life you don't really LOVE, but you love it too much to throw it out or give it to charity...I have a solution.

This gives you good Karma too :).

http://www.freecycle.org/

I have been part of a local Freecycle group, and must say that I have found some wonderful things. I have also offered some items that have gone to great new homes, making some people very thankful and happy.

AND...you are doing something good for the environment by reusing and recycling :).

Frivolous little ME!!!

Step AWAY from the computer!!

I have finally gotten past the title for my book, and am working away to make it happen. This has pros and cons.

Pros: I am reading some of my past work, and it is like reading an autobiography that is making me laugh.

Cons: I am reading some of my past work, and it is like reading an autobiography that is making me laugh.

I haven't laughed so hard at myself in a long time. But I can switch from happy to serious in a heartbeat.

POLL!!!
Should religion be discussed?
Or not?

I need to stay away from any distractions, so I am working on my laptop, where I am not connected to ANYTHING! No email, no IM, no Skype.

Sign up in the index to receive a notice when the infamous book is ready to hit the press. I promise, you will belly laugh :).

Breathe

So, I am back from camping, and would really like to post about that awesome experience of "freezing my butt off at night on the hard tent floor while my kids are snoring and I am listening to raccoons and other diverse critters trying to open the tent, etc, etc", :), with some grand pictures of the majestic redwoods, but I just can't seem to get my ducks in a row. I actually already started the post....but I want to get deep and so I will post more tomorrow, with majestic pictures.

I have decided to drink a glass of wine, listen to my ipod, and BREATHE for a moment instead.

And for your entertainment, and few pictures from my life:

This is why I threw the family into the car and escaped to Apple Hill today.

I hugged a hundred trees, and they hugged me

I have JUST experienced a 3 day camping trip with my children :).

We ventured to Big Basin, in the Santa Cruz mountains. The redwood trees are awe-inspiring. This place is magical, and amazing.

On the other hand, I have not been tent camping since I was 18 and trekked to Italy with a pup tent and a burner. My friends, who are campers, were nice enough to coddle me and take care of all the neccesseties. I just drove, including up 13 miles of hair pin turns in a huge diesel. To those of you that were honking at me when I was tensely trying to keep that monster from going over the edge, I am now showing you the finger, since I do not have any impressionable children sitting behind me.

My kids had a wonderful time. They were like a group of bandits, kids of all ages running around, exploring and playing together all day. No bickering!! My son was in and out of every tree in our vicinity, I swear he was marking territory :).

There is nothing like tree magic.

I had some rare moments to breathe. Breathe in the fresh, scented air of the forest. Feel the serene energy that comes from the trees....

It was nice in the day, but cold, cold, cold when the sun was gone! We slept with thick sweats on, and lots of blankets. We also had a fire pit going around the clock, I ate more melted marshmellows than my daughter (can beat my son with that one!), and I spent some super cool time with my kids hugging trees. We made raccoon friends. They came so close at night during dinner, we could have touched them! One went in our car and stole bread (little bugger, we closed all doors after that!).

The last night was a bit hectic. We heard wild cats growling and groveling fairly close to the camp. Then one of our neighbors said they saw the HUGE cats, and that they were going into a HOTEL for the night!! That was our cue! My friend and I decided it was time pack up and go. Thanks to the help of the only man in our group, we chuggered out of there at 11:30pm and headed home.

Now I am ready to buy a camper and explore our natural beauties....
